On January 4, 2008, the Policy Branch granted with conditions PanAmSat Licensee Corp.'s (PanAmSat) request for a period of 30 days to continue to operate the Galaxy 17 satellite in the 5925-6425 MHz (Earth-to-space) and 3700-4200 MHz (space-to-Earth) conventional C-band frequencies, and in the 14.0-14.5 GHz (Earth-to-space) and 11.7-12.2 GHz (space-to-Earth) conventional Ku-band frequencies, at the 74.5° W.L. orbital location. PanAmSat is also authorized to conduct space station Telemetry, Tracking, and Control operations on Galaxy 17 to effect its operations at the 74.5° W.L. orbital location. Of the 88.4 million advanced services lines reported as of June 30, 2008, 55.5% were at least 2.5 mbps in the faster direction and 44.5% were slower than 2.5 mbps in the faster direction.
